Trieste, Italy
26th - 28th August 2006

Before heading to Croatia, Diana, Karina, Robyn and myself headed to Trieste, Italy for the weekend. Diana had family to visit, so Karina, Robyn and I spent time wandering the small pretty streets of Trieste, eating some great food (lots of pasta and pizza of course!), and having Illy coffee everyday with breakfast. For those uninitiated, Trieste is the home of Illy coffee, and its damn good coffee! We wandered up to the del Castello di San Giusto to get some great, but unfortunately rain interrupted, views of Trieste, spent a lot of time in the Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia watching the world go by and one afternoon Diana joined us for coffee and dessert and a walk by the sea which included a spectacular fall on some steps near the ocean, it was good work! On the last day we caught the bus out to Trieste Airport and waited for the arrival of the final four people to join us for our trip into Croatia for my birthday, but Trieste was a fantastic relaxing lead up.
