My 2002 Christmas Odyessy

I had just been on a weekend flying visit to Dublin, and had two days left until Christmas. On the Monday night, after various phone calls and some quick online bookings, I realised that I suddenly had to pack for a week away from London. Everything had fallen into place for me to spend 6 nights away, in 3 different houses, in 2 countries. So an enormous thank you to Debs, Simon and Martina and their families for the hospitality they showed me.

Tues 24th December: After work, I headed off with Debs to her house in the south of London. We then drove down with Steve to her parents house, about 3 hours south west of London, getting there at about 11:30pm.

Wed 25th December: After enjoying Christmas morning and lunch, we headed off to Cornwall to Steve's and Simon's mums house. Stayed up quite late watching TV and resting.

Thur 26th December: Christmas lunch mk 2 then greeted us the next day, after which we proceeded to the beach to try out the kite that Debs got for Christmas.

Fri 27th December: Driving back to London, Debs and Steve kindly dropped me off at Gatwick Airport after a 5 and a half hour journey. Drove by Stonehenge, and that was all I needed to see of it. Left Gatwick for Dublin, and then Dublin for Derry in a twin propeller plane. By 9:30pm I was in Martina's parents warm cosy house way up in the north west of Ireland past Letterkenny. (about an hour from Derry, but in the Republic of Ireland)

Sat 28th December: Very relaxing walk along the beach today with Martina and Sam the dog. Amazingly mild weather for the time of year. Headed into Letterkenny for the evening to meet some friends, have dinner and a night out.

Sun 29th December: Another wonderfully relaxing day, nice lunch in Letterkenny, and a quiet evening. Enough to make you not want to go back to London. Very peaceful, very scenic.

Mon 30th December: A brisk walk, lunch at the house, and then back to Derry for my two hop flight home. Home at 10:30pm and straight to bed, but it took a while to get to sleep after such an enjoyable and varied week.

Thank you again to Debs, Steve, Simon and Martina and their families for the week, as it all went extremely well and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in every spot.
